Today was our first day filming at the Raptor Trust, an incredible rehabilitation center that rescues injured wild birds in Morris County, New Jersey. It‘s super cool, not only does this organization heal and provide care to many birds, but it releases healthy birds back into the wild.
While filming in the location, we were able to take a look at some of the stunning birds that the Raptor Trust has rescued. Although the organization tries its best to release all the birds it receives, those that are severely injured and can no longer survive in the wild live comfortably in the Raptor Trust's large enclosures.
The birds that are treated for illness and injury are tended to daily by a team of doctors and caretakers. Our team got to watch as a malnourished mute swan was cared for in a protected enclosure.
However, no moment can top when we were able to witness the live release of a red tail hawk. It was released into the forested habitat surrounding the rehabilitation center, which is right next to the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.
